Our
wines
A
wide range of wines, respectful of the territory and traditions,
with both time-honored and innovative techniques utilized in
the vineyard and in the cellar to guarantee a final product
that is a spiritedly delightful encounter with taste and quality.
|
| "First
and foremost: lavish great care on the vines to obtain the best
grapes possible. Then, respect those grapes in the cellar so
as to achieve the best wine possible. Balance, elegance, refinement,
complexity. These are the characteristics that I wish for my
wines, from beginning to end. This is the philosophy passed
on to me by my father and to which I abide every day, at every
vineyard, for every vintage, on every wine." Pietro
Ratti, 2004 |

Our
Cellar >>
In the year 2002 work begins on the new cellar at Annunziata.
Built with the utmost respect for the environment and with traditional,
local materials, the new cellar will be operative for the 2005
harvest.
The edifice is structured along three floors and the modern
equipment will allow us to maintain maximum respect for the
grapes and vineyards of origin.

The
Vintages
If the vineyards and soils may be considered as "constants,"
the continental climate of the Langhe is highly susceptible
to change.
The result is that every vintage is different. From Spring to
the beginning of September, the climate factor is important
for the nutrition of the vines as well as for the overall health
of the grapes.
The last 30 days of climatic conditions coinciding with the
final ripening period are instead of determining importance
for the quality of the grapes and the outcome of the vintage.

Labels
The "tin solders" dressed in the uniforms of the Napoleonic
period evince our desire to bear witness to our local history.
Gleaned from the private collection of Prof. Edoardo Mosca of
Bra in 1969, and showing the various battalions of Alba from
1700 and 1800, they grace the labels of our classical Alba wines
(Dolcetto Colombè, Barbera Torriglione, Nebbiolo Ochetti).
The Barolo label instead, bears the symbol of the ancient castle
built towards the end of the first millennium, where years later,
the Abbey of San Martino of Marcenasco was erected. It's a gilt
shield with a black crow bearing the Latin motto: "Probasti
me et chognuisti me" (You tried me and you knew me).
The label of the Villa Pattono wines is different inasmuch as
it represents the age-old family estate at Costigliole d'Asti
in the hills of Monferrato..
